Replace tyres when tread depth reaches the legal minimum of 1.6 mm — but wet-weather grip degrades notably below 3 mm. Pirelli tyres include moulded tread wear indicators in the grooves; when the tread is flush with these indicators, replacement is due. Also replace any tyre that shows sidewall bulging, cracking, or has been run severely flat, regardless of remaining tread.
